Spectral efficiency for a hybrid DS/FH code-division multiple-access system in cellular mobile radio

چکیده
The spectral efficiency of a hybrid cellular direct-sequence/frequency hopping code-division multiple-access (DS/FH-CDMA) system operating in a Rayleigh-fading environment is examined. In this work, spectral efficiency is evaluated in terms of the theoretically achievable channel capacity (in the Shannon sense) per user, on the condition that this is estimated in an average sense. The analysis covers the downlink assuming a static model of operation and a direct-sequence/slow-frequency hopping (DS/SFH) as well as a direct-sequence/fast-frequency hopping (DS/FFH) scheme. As it is shown, the spectral efficiency of cellular DS/FFH-CDMA operating in a Rayleigh-fading environment is greater than that of broad-band DSand DS/SFH-CDMA systems operating under normalized conditions. This is justified by the combination of path-diversity reception as achieved by conventional coherent RAKE receivers and the frequency diversity that is inherently present in FFH transmission.

A comparison of spectral efficiency achieved by time-division multiple-access (TDMA) and directsequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) systems, during cellular operation in a Rayleigh fading environment, is presented in this paper. Spectral efficiency, is evaluated in terms of the theoretically assigned downlink channel capacity per user (in the Shannon sense). In particular, in Raylei...
متن کاملA High Data Rate Wireless Communication In Two-Level FH- CDMA Scheme
Frequency hopped code-division multiple access (CDMA) is mostly used for wireless communication systems as it has the flexibility to provide a variety of services to many users under different propagation conditions. With limited spectrum, an FH-CDMA wireless communication system is interference limited. Interference avoidance and interference averaging can reduce the interference of the system...
متن کاملA Novel Approach for Frequency Hopping Cdma Technique
Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) is a method of transmitting radio signals by rapidly switching a carrier among many frequency channels, using a pseudorandom sequence known to both transmitter and receiver. It is utilized as a multiple access method in the frequency-hopping code division multiple access (FH-CDMA) scheme. A frequency-hopped spread spectrum multi-access network which is s...
متن کاملPower and Rate Adaptations in hybrid DS/FH CDMA Communications over Fading Channels
We consider a hybrid direct-sequence frequency-hopped (DS/FH) code division multiple access (CDMA) communication system, where the transmission power and data rate are adapted relative to the channel variation. Instead of random frequency hopping, hopping pattern is adaptively adjusted to obtain the maximum channel gain among available frequency slots. Transmission power and/or data rate are al...
